Fresh n’ Frozen

Fresh ‘n’ Frozen is an event designed to question the premise of art production as well as accessibility and affordability of artwork through testing other mediums of dissemination. The 12ø space hosted 3 - 5 invited artists daily who were asked to create work in the space which was then delivered to the public around London by the 12ø team, allowing people to take part in the event remotely, while enjoying other events at Art Licks Weekend or from the comfort of their home.

Using the framework of delivery services and online ordering usually used for takeaway or groceries we used the 12ø project space as a site of production where works were made throughout the Art Licks Weekend opening hours. Viewers who came to the project space could order work to takeaway and peer past the counter to catch a glimpse of the production room.

Viewers were able to chose from the menu of artists, with Frozen (readymade editions) and Fresh (made on demand and unique). We hoped this would give the artists a way to experiment with process and production within their own practice, to meet the needs of their own concerns within the time and size constraints. Artists whose work is primarily online will have a chance to disseminate their work in a personalised physical format, while those who make physical work will be provided with basic infrastructure to digitise it easily and deliver on 12ø USB sticks.

The public are invited to order free USB artworks, which can be collected from the 12ø project space or delivered to their own home (or another ALW space) for a small delivery charge.
